Before installing BlackBerry Manager on a remote computer for administration of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, complete the pre-installation tasks listed below.
Note: To determine the system requirements, see the BlackBerry Enterprise Server: Installation Guide and the BlackBerry Enterprise Server: Administration Guide.

Task 1
Verify that one of the following operating systems is installed on the remote computer:
Microsoft Windows® 2000 Service Pack 4
Microsoft Windows 2003 Service Pack 1 or later
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 or later

Task 2
Verify that the following software is installed on the remote computer:

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 or later
Note: For more information on the .NET framework, go to the MSDN Download Center.
Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8 Service Pack 1 or later
Note: MDAC is required on any computer where BlackBerry Manager is installed. For more information, see KB03412.

Enable Named Pipes and TCP/IP network protocols for the remote MSDE or Microsoft SQL Server. For more information, see article KB04147.

Task 4
Verify that the Windows service account used for the installation has the following permissions:

System Administrator and Database Creator permissions on the Microsoft SQL Server.

From a command prompt, go to C:\, type the following commands in the specified order, and press ENTER after each line:
Note: The output should be identical to that shown below.
osql -E -S

If you have a second instance of the SQL database. Eg :servername\instance name . the above procedure might now work .

A ODBC connection needs to be created , to the SQL instance before installing the BlackBerry Manager, ,
