Description
You can load applications on a BlackBerry device in the following ways:
with BlackBerry Desktop Manager
wirelessly using a browser on the BlackBerry device
with the JavaLoader.exe utility
For each method you must specify the location of the COD application file(s) to be loaded. For more information on using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and JavaLoader.exe to load applications, see the BlackBerry JDE Developer Guide.
Loading Applications with BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Loading applications using BlackBerry Desktop Manager is the preferred method and requires an ALX loading configuration file.
Loading Applications Wirelessly
Applications can be loaded wirelessly using the BlackBerry Browser, Internet Browser, or Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) Browser. For descriptions of these browsers, see KB03892.
1. Put the JAD file and required COD files on a web server.
2. Access the JAD file using one of the BlackBerry device browsers.
Note: Some service providers restrict the sizes of files that can be downloaded using their WAP Browser.
Loading applications with JavaLoader.exe
For development and testing purposes, applications can be loaded directly on the BlackBerry device using the JavaLoader.exe utility provided with the BlackBerry JDE.
